I take the following photos while visited Semarang, Central Java for Zimbra+openSUSE implementation last year. The client are Japanese company with main business in agricultural machinery. The project are moving existing mail server (Lotus Domino+Lotus Notes) into Zimbra on openSUSE 11.1. I think it would take 1-2 days for finishing the overall configuration but the real project only took approximately 3 hours to be completed.

Beside the primary project, I take the opportunity to go to Central Java Grand Mosque, a beautiful mosque with an interesting architecture. Photos was taken with Casio Digital Camera 8 MP.

I’m not a fashion-addict person, nor the one who concern with fashion style. I has no primary preference with the fashion style and most likely using casual as well as standard fashion.

But the above consideration will only be true for fashion style as usual because I have a different approach for special moment such as birthday party or costume party. Birthday party for my son as example, would be a special moment to pick and wearing special costume.

The main problem for picking special wear or costume is the original idea about what the model should be picked. It will not be a special moment if the costume only about dolls and its variant. I want something special which make my son happy and make his birthday as amazing event.

Yesterday I found a nice website which provided special Costumes for special moment. I don’t even know the website which specialized in costume like this . The website has many gallery contains different costume for each category. My favorite one is the animal costume for child. Their picture gallery show off costume example and some of them seems to be exactly with my requirement. Below is some example :

I think it should be a special gift for my son. The price maybe too expensive for me who lived in a poor country like Indonesia with US$ rate equivalent with 12 thousand rupiah. According to the price, I would like to choose a cheap one and give it as my special gift for my son on his birthday.

Please wait, my beloved Zeze Vavai…

However, it’s not exclusive for members only. The meeting was still open for colleagues who is not a member or rather never used openSUSE Linux .

In this meeting I will act as host and at the same time will hold a presentation, a workshop materials entitled : “Remastering openSUSE: How to Build your Own openSUSE.” openSUSE Remastering will be using kiwi imaging system that is easy to used to build the openSUSE based distributions with our specifications. For example, if we only want to make special openSUSE based distro which fully support and act as server without a GUI and desktop applications, we can create this by Kiwi imaging system. We can also make openSUSE LiveCD or LiveDVDs with our own content, ie : the distro is accompanied by a complete multimedia package Support, wifi drivers, Nvidia & ATI drivers, etc.

In contrast with previous meetings, this meeting was held on Sunday at 10 am(ussualy hold on Saturday 01 pm) because I haveJapanese language course in the office. In addition to the reason for that, this time the event will also discuss plans for Indonesian openSUSE community for next year.

For colleagues who are interested in coming, please read the details on the website of Indonesia openSUSE community.

Today I read a nice article from Sandy Armstrong. I addressed the question (and answer) since I have similar question while using Linux and open source software for the first time.

So, for you Linux and Open Source activist, Why do you spend so much time working on Linux or another open source application, when a no-cost proprietary solution may already be available ?

Related with the question is about the perception of proprietary software. Some proprietary software opposite (just like FSF activist) think that proprietary is evil. I don’t agree with this. I talked the audience at the studium-general event in Al Azhar University last week that I agree with Linux Torvalds, quoted what Linus Torvalds said in the interview at InformationWeek :

Me, I just don’t care about proprietary software. It’s not "evil" or "immoral," it just doesn’t matter. I think that Open Source can do better, and I’m willing to put my money where my mouth is by working on Open Source, but it’s not a crusade — it’s just a superior way of working together and generating code.

It’s superior because it’s a lot more fun and because it makes cooperation much easier (no silly NDA’s or artificial barriers to innovation like in a proprietary setting), and I think Open Source is the right thing to do the same way I believe science is better than alchemy. Like science, Open Source allows people to build on a solid base of previous knowledge, without some silly hiding.

So, Why do we bothered with Linux ? I don’t think the answer is perfect but it’s near exactly what I feel :

"I will not use software unless it is free (as in freedom). Whether or not a proprietary solution exists is irrelevant; I have problems I need to solve, and if there is no free software that solves it I will create a new project. It is simply unacceptable to sacrifice my freedom for the sake of convenience. As Benjamin Franklin said, ‘Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.’"

The pragmatic user or programmer says: "It is in my best interest to use free software. If I find a bug or wish there was a certain feature, I can talk directly with developers about it, pay somebody to fix it, or fix it myself. I don’t have to wait until it’s in the best interest of some corporation. I don’t have to be afraid of being stuck with unsupported abandonware."

The young developer says: "Reinventing the wheel is half the fun of writing software! Even if there *is* an existing free software project that mostly does what I want, I’ll probably start one from scratch because then I can do it *my* way. If it’s useful to others, then that’s great, too. Duplication is par for the course in the software world; after all, weren’t there plenty of media players before iTunes, and aren’t there still? If there are multiple operating systems, applications, or web sites that appear to serve the same need, then you just need to look closer to understand what niche each is for."

The user who does not understand enough to know the difference says: "My friend/child/administrator set up my computer with Linux. If popular software isn’t available on Linux, I’m usually lucky enough to find a suitable free alternative. I get free updates and no weird restrictions on how I can use my computer."

No matter there is proprietary solution, I don’t think that create the open source project for similar solution as a silly work. We talked about freedom and choice, and more choices for to do same job, more better for end user.

It’s came from my experience : open source solution give us more possibility to empowering the user. If you have an IT staff, you can compare their capability while using proprietary software and open source software and decided which one give a better advantage for their improvement and mindset. I don’t think that proprietary software don’t do what the proprietary software does but my experience showed up the trend of relevant case between open source implementation and increasing the capability of IT staff.

The summary is : How about you ?

Dear Friends,

I write this by copied an email sent by Avaaz.org, an independent, not-for-profit global campaigning organization that works to ensure that the views and values of the world’s people inform global decision-making. Let’s send our voice by sign in online petition to push the US, Canada and Japan government to change their mindset.

We-the Avaaz team-are here at the climate summit in Bali — but it’s reached crisis point. Working late, negotiators were nearing consensus that developed countries should pledge post-Kyoto emissions cuts by 2020–a step which the scientists say is needed to avert the worst ravages of global warming, and which will help to bring China and the developing world onboard. But then the news broke: the US, Canada and Japan rejected any mention of such cuts. Every few hours the draft changes.

We can’t let three governments hold the world to ransom: so we’re launching a global emergency petition before the summit climax in 48 hours. We’ll deliver our message every way we can — a stark full-page advertisement in the Financial Times Asia, stunts at the conference gates, direct to country delegations — telling Canada, Japan and the US to accept the option of post-Kyoto targets, and the rest of the world to settle for nothing less.
Please take a moment right now to sign the new global emergency petition at this link, then tell all your friends: http://www.avaaz.org/bali_emergency/2.php

Today marks the 10th anniversary of the expiring Kyoto pact, but Japan, the US and Canada don’t seem to want a workable global deal to follow it. There is almost universal agreement in Bali that the idea of 2020 climate targets should be included, making possible a deal to bring the developing world onboard over time. As the news links below make clear, the US, Japan and Canada are destroying that delicate bargain, not even allowing the idea to be mentioned.

We’re doing everything we can. Tens of thousands of Canadian Avaaz members have launched an ad campaign telling their government not to betray them — our Japanese members are emailing their leaders — while our American members will send their own message to Bali as Al Gore and Congressional and local representatives land there, asking negotiators to ignore the official US delegation because it does not represent them.

Coming from every country on earth, all of us can play a direct role in the Bali face-off by signing this global emergency petition — delivered at the summit gates, in a full-page Financial Times ad, and direct to delegates. Act now and spread the word — we have just 48 hours:

http://www.avaaz.org/bali_emergency/2.php

With determination and hope,

Paul, Ricken, Galit, Ben, Iain, Graziela, Milena and the whole Avaaz team

PS This article explains a bit of what’s going on:

http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/12/10/news/climate.php

The New Scientist has more detail here:

http://www.newscientist.com/blog/environment/2007/12/bali-draft-hints-emissions-targets-may_10.html

We’re in the thick of things here at Bali — Avaaz was the only organization allowed to demonstrate inside the fortified summit Saturday. As hundreds of thousands marched around the world, we brought over half a million voices to the heart of the decision-making venue, carrying big banners and scores of country flags. We’ve also been hosting the daily Fossil Awards of the Climate Action Network, the umbrella of all the NGOs here – see http://www.avaaz.org/fossils.

The famous five is a most popular book series written by Enid Blyton. Translated and published in Indonesia in 1980s by Gramedia with the Indonesian title : Lima Sekawan.

The famous five is a novel series about children adventures. The five title came from 5 childrens : Julian Kirrin, his young brother Dick (Richard) Kirrin and young sister Anne Kirrin. The rest two is their cousin Georgina and his dog Timothy. Georgina is a strange and tomboy girl who looks and acts like a boy and won’t answer until you call her "George". She is boyish makes a great deal about how boys are better and stronger at everything, she is also an excellent swimmer and hold her breath under the water "for ages"! By cutting her hair very short and dressing like a boy, she is often mistaken for one, something which pleases her enormously. She is headstrong by nature and, like her father, Quentin, has a fiery temper.

Another one is Timothy. Just like George, Timothy most popular with nick name "Timmy".

George lived with her daddy Quentin Kirrin and her mother Fanny Kirrin in Kirrin cottage, a small old house near Kirrin bay. Quentin Kirrin is brother of Dick, Julian and Anne’s father, so Quentin Kirrin is their uncle and Fanny Kirrin is their aunt.

Uncle Quentin work as an inventor and scientist. He possesses an infamous temper and has little tolerance for children on school holidays, but is nevertheless not as heartless as he may at first seem.

One of the interesting note is that most of their adventures take place on school holidays while visiting the village of Kirrin .

The first book in Famous Five series is "Five on a Treasure Island" and translated in Indonesia with : "Lima Sekawan : Di Pulau Harta".

Actually, the first book I’ve read is the fifteen series, translated into Indonesian with the title : "Melacak Jejak Rahasia". It was an early 1990s, while class 1 in high school, SMPN 1 Tambun – Bekasi. My friend (She is a beautiful girl with long hair ), Diah Permata Sari lend me the book and I deeply got interested with the series. She lend me all of her collection, not only from Famous Five series. Some of them is the "Secret Seven" (translated into Indonesian as "Sapta Siaga"), Five Find-Outers (translated into Indonesian as "Pasukan Mau Tahu"), Malory Towers, Adventures Series, and much more. Most of them are Enid Blyton books but there is some another interesting books, like "Trio Detektif" by Alfred Hitchcok and "Rumah Kecil di Tengah Padang Rumput" (Litle House in the Praire) .

After finished second high school in SMAN 2 Bekasi, I never met with Diah Permata Sari. Perhaps, this post could bring her to contact me .

Tha famous five is my favorite books until now. There is some another favorite books, like Musashi, Taiko, Sherlock Holmes and some more but the famous five is my lovely books.

In 1978, this book adapted for television and broadcast by TVRI in early 1980s. I was about five year of ages and it was pretty difficult to view the movie because the television was so expensive and in our village there is only a piece of television .

The Famous Five 1978 television series was produced by Southern Television for the ITV network in the UK, in 26 episodes of thirty minutes. It starred Michele Gallagher as Georgina, Marcus Harris as Julian, Jennifer Thanisch as Anne, Gary Russell as Dick, Toddy Woodgate as Timmy, Michael Hinz as Uncle Quentin and Sue Best as Aunt Fanny. It also starred Ronald Fraser, John Carson, Patrick Troughton, James Villiers, Cyril Luckham and Brian Glover. The screenplays were written by Gloria Tors, Gail Renard, Richard Carpenter and Richard Sparks. The episodes were directed by Peter Duffell, Don Leaver, James Gatward and Mike Connor. The series was produced by Don Leaver and James Gatward.

My favorite artist-off course-is Jennifer Thanisch. Born in 1964, she was fourteen years of age in 1978. She looks very-very beautiful. In one or two series of Famous Five in Indonesia, there is a scene of television series and I become falling in love with her after see the scene photos. I know, in the 1990, she was 26 years of age but I assumed she was still fourteen years of age.

Until finished high school, Jennifer Thanisch or Anne Kirrin become my girl friend in imagination. If I felt in love with some girl in high school, I will compared their physical view with her. Wow, sound incredible things right now.

80-an blog have an interesting post about Famous Five in Indonesian language. There is an unofficial website about Enid Blyton that contains several online books. The official site of Enid Blyton is http://www.enidblyton.net

debit, or prepaid cards in 26 international markets (Indonesia is one of the 26 international markets), I take the opportunity to get my PayPal account verified. I used my credit card-Mega Visa- to get the expanded number and PayPal charges US$ 1.95 to get this.

The verification process itself just need a simple step, just log into PayPal, follow their instruction wizard and you got verified.

The problem occurred while trying to withdraw my money from Text-Link-Ads earning into my credit card. I try once and two and it’s all finished with the statement : Limited Access, please contact PayPal !

I checked my inbox and found the email with subject "Notification of Limited Account Access".

Dear Muhammad Rivai,

As part of our security measures, we regularly screen activity in the PayPal system. During a recent screening, we noticed an issue regarding your account.

Our system requires further account verification.

Case ID Number: PP-XXX-XXX-XXX

For your protection, we have limited access to your account until
additional security measures can be completed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

To review your account and some or all of the information that PayPal used to make its decision to limit your account access, please visit the Resolution Center. If, after reviewing your account information, you seek further clarification regarding your account access, please
contact PayPal by visiting the Help Center and clicking "Contact Us".

As described in their email, I tried to locate the Resolution center and found no related information regarding my problem. I change my internet connection to get the better speed (because I don’t want connection loss while trying to withdraw my account) but there is nothing.

About 2 or 3 days ago I read Maseko blog post about this kind problem. I contacted and asked him, how to get lifted from the limited access. Maseko said that he just provide bill statement and the Personal Identification Number (KTP).

Accidentally, yesterday I got the problem with my password so I decided to clear my cookies, password, cache, browsing history and all of my personal data at Firefox browser. After navigating to PayPal account, I found the instruction how to get lifted from my limited access.

I tried to scanned and sent my credit card account statement but after about 4 hours, I got the reply from Paypal informing that they still need some proper document regarding my address. I think it’s okay because my credit card statement provided different address rather than my home address. Currently, I used my office address to credit card statement

I tried the second chance, scanned my phone bill statement (Xplor Mega Data) and my personal identification number.

I think I will wait for the review within 3 business days, but today I got the confirmation mail (in same day after provided the documents. I uploaded the documents at 10.00 am and the confirmation mail received at 12.00 am) informing me that my PayPal account has been restored.

Your PayPal Account Access Has Been Restored !

Dear Muhammad Rivai,

Our review is complete and we have restored your account.

We appreciate your patience and thank you for your help in making PayPal
the safest and most trusted online payment solution.

Sincerely,
PayPal

Haha, afraid that this only a joke, I tried to sent a donation to my close friend, and it work flawlessly. Thanks PayPal.

Katuranggan, have you heard this before ?

No.. No.. I didn’t talk about how to become a strong man by run some sport activities. This is not about how to teaches the students to be physically powerful by using inner power and/or mantras, and invulnerable to any kind of weapons, bullets etc. That’s another phrase, "Kanuragan" .

Katuranggan is an interesting topics due to it’s relationship with sex . Some people think that Katuranggan is local Kamasutra. This is not wrong, and this is not true anyway.

Katuranggan not talked about sex as a global topics. Katuranggan focused with knowledge of women issues.

Katuranggan found in some old manuscript in the Kawi (Java) language, Serat Centhini or Suluk Tembangraras is one example. In the women issues, Katuranggan means that the knowledge to know all of woman character, symbol or indication by their physical appearance.

Katuranggan literature contains a knowledge about the identity or type of good wife by their physical appearance, ie : guntur madu, merica pecah, tasik madu, sri tumurun, puspa megar, surya surup-surya sumurup, menjangan ketawan, amurwa tarung, or mutyara.

Just an example : women with surya sumurup type means that she has red lips, blue-like eye, sinom (small hair in the forehead) and her eyebrow nanggal sepisan (just like crescent). Woman with these appearance would be a loyal wife and clever in making love .

Source of Katuranggan not only came from Serat Centhini. "Kitab Primbon Lumanakim Adammakna" contains a lot of type of good and loyal wife. Kiai Saleh Darat from Jepara has published the book of Katuranggan in 1899.

Some skeptical opinion said that Katuranggan is one of man superiority from gender perspective. There is a lot of type of good wife but there is nothing about type of good husband .

How about you ? Trust or no, it’s all up to you.

My wife read this post and asked me, "Do you think I’m a good wife from Katuranggan perspective ?". I said, "With or without Katuranggan, you’re my dearest wife"

Picture of Serat Centhini credited to Wikipedia.
