OpenSUSE 10.3 Installation on MacMini (ppc)

This article dedicated to Macnoto :-)

Mac Mini
The Mac mini is the smallest desktop computer made by Apple Inc. MacMini is quite small for a desktop computer: 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) wide, 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) deep, and 2 inches (5.1 cm) tall. It weights 2.9 pounds (1.31 kg).

Currently, MacMini bundled with Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard, including an applications, such as:

  • Cover Flow
  • Quick Look
  • Stacks
  • Time Machine
  • Mail
  • iChat
  • Safari
  • Spaces

But, could we have another OS installed in MacMini? With OpenSUSE 10.3, the answer is Yes.

OpenSUSE weekly news reported that the only problem on installation is about Partitioner versus Bootloader issues.

The complete installation process with the screenshots and some installation note can be found in the OpenSUSE Wiki.

Why we still need to install Linux distro into our Mac ? Well, it’s always about the choice :-)
